simple borders using scraps
This is a photo of my most recent swap efforts. (The tops and bottoms were a tad cut off in the scan.) This was on the Creative Memories swap yahoogroup, entitled: Patchwork Swap. I was in two groups, doing "Shades of Aqua" and "Shades of Amber." Now there are specific coordinating CM paper packs of those colors which made picking the papers easy, but it wouldn't be too hard to do something similar with other coordinated paper, or just some you pulled out. OR SCRAPS -- woohoo! I did six of each border, and each group of six took me literally about 5 minutes to do. Even the cutting of the pieces was quick and easy.
Below I'm putting in a table of the piece measurements that the hostess of the group gave us in case we didn't want "to reinvent the wheel, so to speak." (Posted with her generous permission.)

Now, I ended up changing a few things myself, but the guidelines were very helpful. Because of the dimensions of the paper I had (and the limited amount) I made the background piece only 2.5" wide, just gave things a bit of a narrower border. Also on the amber border (the one where I adhered closest to the guidelines), I ended up making one of the 3.5" pieces in a different color, just because of the layout of the border... But anyway, it is fun to play around. Also easy to alter the design.
The other great part is that you can make lots of these quickly for a theme album. AND you can then personalize them, with stickers, writing, brads, eyelets, whatever, according to a season (fall for the amber?) or theme (baby, vacation, friends, whatever).
